ROYAL ACADEMY SUMMER EXHIBITION
about
Introduction

My silkscreen print 'Nothing To See Here’ is currently being exhibited in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2024.

It’s proved quite popular and sold out before the exhibition even opened to the public! I’ve had a lot of subsequent interest in printing further editions, so I’m now considering doing the following:

1. The first is the same size as the one in the Summer Exhibition but with a different glitter colour.
2. The second is the same size as the one in the Summer Exhibition but with a different background colour, probably pink .
3. The third silkscreen print will have the same colours as the one in the Summer Exhibition but half the size.
4. A Giclée print of the smaller silkscreen print.

If you email me your details and the print you’d most likely be interested in, I’ll keep you informed and I’ll be able to gauge interest.

Introduction
PRINTMAKER

PRINTMAKER

In the late 80’s I got a Degree in Fine Art Printmaking from Maidstone College of Art and since then, time allowing, I’ve produced prints and box art. Over time, my work has become more graphic as my design career evolved. I draw inspiration from snippets of language heard in everyday places like cafes and bars, embracing local sayings and slang. I believe art can be humorous and definitely inclusive to all. Music is a big passion of mine, and I’m planning a series of silkscreen prints inspired by it.

PHOTOGRAPHY

PHOTOGRAPHY

Since a young boy taking photos of cars at a local Ferrari dealership, I’ve always had my camera with me. Then in my design career, I often had to produce the imagery for my retouching projects. This has lead to me documenting my life through photography. For me it’s about capturing and conveying the moment rather than technical brilliance. Frustrated with bulky equipment, I’ve simplified my approach and now use small, lightweight cameras and available light where possible.

Artistic Statement

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

My work explores the relationship between critical theory and daytime TV.

With influences as diverse as Robert Rauschenberg, Russ Meyer, music and Marine Boy, new works are crafted from both orderly and random narratives.

I have always been fascinated by the ephemeral nature of the zeitgeist. Be it new technology, a turn of phrase, fashion or the marriage of old and new, I try to shine a light on things that intrigue and amuse me.

Working within a set agenda, the imperfection of printmaking is for me part of the meditative process. I don’t go looking for it but embrace it when it appears. I enjoy silkscreen’s feel but try to avoid being drawn into the craft.

Most of all it’s a creative outlet, getting the images out of my head, making them ‘real’.
